Often disillusioned by their aspirations of acceptance, "The Pledge" is complacent existing in the bowels of the fraternal hierarchical structure.

Whether cleaning the filth of the chapter house or dressing in sexy, yet sophisticated, women's clothing for the entertainment of the brotherhood, "The Pledge" regularly subjects himself to public humiliation and mental anguish. It doesn't matter if his GPA plummets during pledging, he has become so brainwashed by the prospect of becoming a brother that he cares little for his grades, family or girlfriend.

Although many "Pledges" will develop a strong distaste for their pledging process and a disliking of those brothers who most treated them like shit, once a brother, they will not hesitate to quickly forget how they once felt in order to haze the next batch of fresh meat.
